at Ford Motor Company, continues her series of Webcasts on the
fundamentals of machine vision. Designed to provide developers with an
overview of the critical design and performance aspects of
machine-vision components and systems, these Webcasts also give
experienced engineers and integrators new insights into solving system
design challenges.The fourth Webcast, Vision Hardware, introduces the basic elements of machine vision hardware: computer, frame. grabber, light source, camera, and lens, and then discusses the roles of each component. Current camera types and standards such as FireWire, Camera Link, USB, analog, and GigE Vision will be discussed, along with a description of how image data are processed, the front-end design of optics and lenses, different lenses and when to use them, and, finally, machine-vision lighting techniques, sources, spectral issues, and design objectives. Throughout the presentation the emphasis is on practical approaches and solutions that working engineers can use.  | |
