Laser
marking/engraving is the largest industrial laser application in terms
of units sold. Globally laser marking has experienced a 20% per year
growth rate as security, traceability, and warranty regulations are
causing product suppliers to turn to this versatile marking process.
Solid-state lasers represent more than half of the units sold for
serialization, part identification, and logo type marking applications. This Webcast reviews the various types of solid-state lasers used (lamp-pumped, diode-pumped, and fiber), describes the galvo-based marking process and the devices used to scan the beam to produce the characters required (including new technology), and explains how the beam is handled in the optical train to produce marking fields of suitable size to handle many large-area marking applications.
